San Diego Fishing Reports: Where Will They Take You?

San Diego fishing is all about the ocean. This means that most San Diego fishing reports are going to include information on saltwater fishing, and will focus less on freshwater fishing.

This is not to say there isn't plenty of good freshwater fishing in San Diego, but saltwater fishing dominates down there, and there are good reasons why.

There are fantastic saltwater fishing expeditions all around the San Diego area and where there are fishing expeditions, there are fishing reports. The two seem to go hand and hand.

The San Diego Fishing Report: Fish Talk

A San Diego fishing reports is going to include the saltwater fish and where they are biting. This will include the following types of fish:
  • -San Diego Yellowtail
  • -Catalina Seabass
  • -Halibut
  • -Shark
  • -Sailfish
  • -Dorado
  • -Yellowfin
Although some of the fish mentioned here are going to be located north of San Diego, you will most likely find them in San Diego saltwater fishing reports, because they can be easily accessed from the Southern California coast. San Diego fishing reports will include most Southern California fishing areas as well since a variety of fish can be found in so many different places.

San Diego Fishing Reports: Baja California

No San Diego fishing report would be complete without mentioning Baja California. This would include Cabo San Lucas, La Paz, Loreto, San Quentin and San Martin among others. The reason Baja California is mentioned in San Diego fishing reports has a lot to do with the San Diego fisherman and his temptations to head to Baja California at least once a year for a week long fishing expedition. The fish include Dorado, Sailfish and Yellowtail among others.

The San Diego Fishing Report Bottom Line:

San Diego fishing reports are going to include information on sport fishing landings in the Southern California and Northern Baja California areas. This will range from Morro Bay to Santa Barbara and Oxnard down to Mission Bay and of course San Diego. The thing to remember about all fishing reports is that they are provided for a reason, and that is usually to advertise fishing trips and expeditions. There is nothing wrong with this, however be sure to check the currency of the report provided, as some are outdated and used only to advertise fishing expeditions.

San Diego fishing reports are all about ocean fishing, and you will find that the information and fishing trips available are extensive. In short, you should have no problems finding a ton of information to make your San Diego fishing trip a success. Good luck!
